Volcanoes

In English today you will have the opportunity to begin creating a fact file with your partner about a particular volcano.

Step 1: Choose a volcano from the following list:
  • Mount St Helens
  • Mount Fuiji
  • Mount Fugen
  • Mount Etna
Step 2: Use wonkey.com to search for websites about your chosen volcano.

Step 3: Read the information and make notes to help you remember the facts.

Step 4: Use the notes you have made to create a poster, sharing what you have learnt.

Step 5: Be on the look out for pictures that could support your fact file (we'll print these out!)

Snow Day!

Email your snowy pictures to Miss Watson at:

dawnw@r-alibon.bardaglea.org.uk

and she will upload them to the Blog so that all your friends can comment on them.

Snow Day!

Copy the following paragraph into a comment box and finish the story:

The white flakes fluttered down outside the frosty window.  It was
so unfair.  Playtime was on it's way but the message from Mrs Daley
simply said that we were not allowed into what had become a polar
bear's dream, otherwise known as 'our playground'.

Maybe a child sneaks out of the classroom and has their own adventure in the snow or maybe a snowman creeps into the playground and all the children have to hide it from their teachers!

The only limit is your imagination...happy writing!

Snow Day!

Read the following poem about winter, then, copy and paste it into a comment box so that you can change it and make your own version:

I heard Sir Winter coming.
He crept out of his bed
and rubbed his thin and freezing hands:
“I’ll soon be up!” he said.

“I’ll shudder at the keyhole
and rattle at the door,
I'll strip the trees of all their leaves
and strew them on the floor.

“I’ll harden every puddle
that Autumn thinks is his –
I’ll lay a sparkling quilt of snow
on everything that is!

“I’ll bring a load of darkness
as large as any coal,
and drive my husky dogs across
the world, from pole to pole.

“Oho! How you will shiver!
– And then I heard him say;
“But in the middle of it all
I’ll give you

CHRISTMAS DAY!”
